Quote of the Month

A player who conjugates a verb in the first person singular cannot be part of the squad, he has to conjugate the verb in the first person plural.  We.  We want to conquer.  We are going to conquer.  Using the word "I" when you're in a group makes things complicated.

Mission

The MU Turf Research Center is an inter-disciplinary effort aimed at initiating investigations, conducting research and disseminating information related to turfgrass and ornamental horticulture. In so doing, the Center strives to further the knowledge and understanding of turf management in Missouri. The Center seeks to provide MU students with the opportunity for meaning, experiential learning and Missouri's turf industry with technical support and solutions to current problems.

Goals

  • To further the knowledge of turf management.
  • To provide answers to current turf management problems through research and related activities.
  • To keep turf professionals informed through outreach and extension activities.
  • To produce students who have a competitive advantage in the job market because of their enhanced understanding of turf management.

Turfgrass Building Fund

The turfgrass research facility at the South Farm is in need of a facelift. Recently, we started raising money for the new turfgrass research building. The new building will be a state-of-the-art turfgrass teaching and research facility that will include a library, offices, conference rooms, diagnostics wet labs, and greenhouse. The building will be used by students, golf course superintendents, sports field managers, lawn care operators, master gardner, and homeowners for educational programs. We are well on our way to reaching our goal and there are additional naming opportunities for your donation. For more information contact Brad Fresenburg at (573) 442-4893 or Mia Platz at (573) 884-8732.
