- Missouri has more than 40,000 turfgrass acres on 350 golf courses. This includes some of the most intensely managed turfgrass in the state - more than 1,200 acres of greens and approaches.
- Most Missouri golf courses have 18 holes and 67% of them are 10 years old or older. Although 32% of Missouri golf courses have just been built in the last 10 years.
- Revenues from golf fees are estimated at $239 million. This rough estimate is based on an average of 31,000 rounds of golf per course per year multiplied by $22 per 9-hole round.
- Missouri golf courses spend more than $5 million per year on fertilizer alone. They spend just as much on parts and maintenance of irrigation systems.
